I wish every time I read an article titled 'Revolutionary lighting' the case would actually be true. But I think in this case we might as well be onto something.
Digital Sputnik is a fairly young company that started out with renting a camera and providing finishing services, then went onto developing a simpler way of lighting sets and has since became a part of Hollywood (Independence Day: Resurgence, Star Wars: Rogue One, Ghost in the Shell, Pacific Rim 2).
Digital Sputnik is an LED system that rough and robust and can be completely managed via mobile devices. You need that corner to look a bit colder? Instead of searching for gels just swipe the colour slider a bit to the bluer side and, hey presto, you got yourself a teal background!
Judging by the price I wouldn't them becoming a part of every freelancing shooter and director of photography out there but considering how much time they save they might catch on much sooner than we think.
Have a look and see what you think.
